Digital Ocean Forum 2025

Digital Ocean Forum 2025
-
Brussels, Belgium

DTO-BioFlow is taking part in the fourth edition of the Digital Ocean Forum will take place on 27–28 November 2025 in Brussels, Belgium. Organised by the European Commission (DG RTD, DG MARE, DG DEFIS, DG INTPA) in collaboration with Mercator Ocean International, the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), and SeaScape Belgium under the EDITO project, the event will run back-to-back with the EMODnet Open Conference 2025.

This year’s forum will focus on advancing and co-designing the EU Digital Ocean Platform, building on the Copernicus Marine and EMODnet Services. It will bring together EU Horizon Europe project leaders, experts, and stakeholders to further shape the European Digital Twin Ocean.

A high-level public session will feature European Commission Directorates-General (RTD, DEFIS, MARE, INTPA, ENV) showcasing how the platform supports the EU Ocean Pact, Global Gateway, and the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. A technical workshop will follow, engaging projects to integrate innovations, gather feedback, and strengthen the user-driven evolution of the Digital Twin Ocean platform.

DTO-BioFlow at Digital Ocean Forum 2025

DTO-BioFlow is proud to participate in the Digital Ocean Forum 2025, which is organised back-to-back with the EMODnet Open Conference 2025.

Be sure to visit the DTO-BioFlow booth, where we’ll present our work on “Integration of biodiversity monitoring data into the Digital Twin Ocean.” Together with our partner from the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), Carlota Muniz, we invite you to explore our mission: to awaken “sleeping” biodiversity data and enable a seamless flow of both existing and new information through primary integrators and EMODnet into the EU Digital Twin Ocean. This digital twin will serve as a virtual reflection of marine biological processes, turning data flows into actionable, evidence-based knowledge.

Additionally, Klaas Deneudt, Head of the Marine Observation Centre at the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) and DTO-BioFlow Coordinator, will join Breakout Session 1 on 27 November 2025 (15:30–16:00 CET). He will contribute to discussions on onboarding data to the EDITO platform, co-facilitated with a practical use case testimony.

DTO-BioFlow actively supports the EU Biodiversity Strategy and the Nature Restoration Law, advancing the ambitious goal of restoring our oceans and waters by 2030 and strengthening the protection and restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems.
