DTO-Bioflow Matchmaking Event 4: Supporting Marine Protected Area Management with Digital Services – Phase 2 | DUC 5

On 2 February 2026, at 10 AM, the second phase of the DTO-Bioflow Matchmaking Event 4 is expected to work on the next steps towards image-based monitoring in Kosterhavets National Park.

What Will Be Discussed

Building on previous consultations, this meeting will focus on the preparation of an image-based monitoring framework for Kosterhavets National Park.

Participants will discuss the analysis of existing image datasets and identify historical ROV surveys that may provide valuable long-term monitoring information. Particular attention will be given to revisited locations and biodiversity hotspots such as Tisler Reef and Säcken Reef.

The meeting will also explore opportunities to further develop machine learning approaches by expanding species coverage and improving the capacity to analyse large volumes of underwater imagery. Discussions will consider how these approaches can contribute to identifying ecological trends and the spatial distribution of important habitats and species across the MPA.

Participants

  • County Administrative Board (CAB) Västra Götaland
  • University of Gothenburg (UGOT)

Looking Ahead

The next consultation is expected to take place in March 2026 and will focus on advancing mapping activities and monitoring priorities.
