Aquaculture Europe 2025 (AE2025), organised by the European Aquaculture Society, is a leading annual event that brings together industry leaders, researchers, policymakers, students, and innovators to explore the future of aquaculture as a vital pillar of global food security. Held under the theme of inclusivity and sustainability, AE2025 bridges science, industry, and policy while addressing societal needs and advancing environmental stewardship.
The Event
Held in Valencia, Spain, this year’s edition focuses on inclusivity, sustainability, and the growing role of aquaculture in delivering healthy food, preserving the environment, and strengthening local economies.
With a diverse programme covering the full range of species, scientific disciplines, technologies, and markets, AE2025 includes:
- Parallel sessions (oral & poster presentations)
- Industry forums and student sessions
- International trade exhibition
- EU research updates and satellite workshops
The theme of "Aquaculture for All" reflects the sector’s increasing relevance for environmental regeneration, coastal integrity, ecosystem services, and economic prosperity—especially within the European context.
Why It Matters
Aquaculture has become one of the fastest-growing food sectors globally. As it evolves, it also has the responsibility to ensure its operations support ecological balance, biodiversity conservation, and the regeneration of marine environments.
By participating in AE2025, we contribute to promoting the integration of biodiversity and environmental data in aquaculture planning, supporting informed decision-making through digital modelling tools, and strengthening connections between researchers, data providers, and aquaculture stakeholders.
Let's connect
We are proud to share that Christina Pavloudi from the European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC) will represent DTO-BioFlow at AE2025. She will highlight the project’s contributions to sustainable aquaculture and the role of the Digital Twin Ocean in shaping a smarter, more resilient marine future.
