The 7th edition of the World Conference on Marine Biodiversity will be held from 17-20 November 2026 (WCMB 2026) in Bruges, Belgium, hosted by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ). The conference has been endorsed as a UN Ocean Decade Event.
Taking part in the conference is a major opportunity to share research outcomes, management and policy topics, and offers a platform to discuss current and emerging biodiversity issues.
This year, the main theme will be “The marine biodiversity insights we need, for the ocean we want“.
DTO-BioFlow at WCMB 2026
DTO-BioFlow will be featured in this joint session proposed by Fred Leclercq (EDITO) and Carlota Muñiz (DTO-BioFlow Coordinator) under Sub-theme 3: Building e-Oceans to Help Fill Our Knowledge Gaps at WCMB 2026.
The session “Digital Twins and AI Applications for Marine Biodiversity & Ecosystems: From Virtual Oceans to Real-World Impact” will showcase innovative concepts, case studies, and AI-powered models that demonstrate how digital twins and machine learning are transforming the understanding and management of marine biodiversity and ecosystems.
