Our Ocean, Our Future, Our Responsibility
The United Nations Ocean Conference 2025 is a landmark global gathering, co-hosted by France and Costa Rica, that will bring together world leaders, scientists, NGOs, the private sector, and Indigenous communities to advance the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. Under the overarching theme of “Accelerating action and mobilising all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean”, the Conference will serve as a global platform for urgent dialogue and transformative partnerships.
Why It Matters?
As highlighted in the political declaration of the 2022 UN Ocean Conference, “The ocean is fundamental to life on our planet and to our future.” The 2025 edition in Nice, France, will focus on:
- Accelerating efforts to tackle the ocean-climate-biodiversity nexus
- Identifying concrete actions and policies to support ocean conservation
- Strengthening the science-policy interface and promoting inclusive collaboration
- Launching the Nice Ocean Action Plan – a concise, action-oriented declaration to drive implementation and accountability
From Data to Impact
